The fact of the matter is, YouTube streams over 4 Billion (that’s billion with a B) videos each day… so yes… someone is watching them. Even on our most simple creations at Delton Childs Media, the very least a few dozen people watch our videos. Sometimes these video aren’t anything special, maybe just a project we’ve worked on with a client. That’s power, instead of tucking our videos away in a folder on a hard drive somewhere we’re able to showcase our projects and share them to people we don’t even know are interested. The take away: Everyone used youTube where they realized it or not. If you don’t visit the youtube site chances are you’re watching an embedded video somewhere on the web or already have.
YouTube is working on a new app, for creators. You might think to yourself at first… well… I’m not really a video producer or whatever. Let’s not get caught up in thinking about what we’re not and think about how to grow businesses. Video marketing is key these day. Why? For the simple fact that people would rather watch a video than read a million lines of text on your website about how great your product or services is.
So what does this mean for marketers and publishers, and Content Creators?
An app dedicated not viewing videos… but to creating thing to grow your brand. OK, don’t get too excited, we haven’t even seen the app yet but if youTube follows through on what it’s done already in the video marketing and gives us an app that at first lets us create and manage our channels effectively, but coming soon also allows us to create and publish new content, keep up with our fans and more. Sounds like a win for all types of publishers. It sounds to me like they’re focusing on the things creators like most and these are the things we hope we see integrated:
- Video Editing
- Content Uploading
- Sound Mixing
- Brand Management
- Fan Interaction and Management (comment, reply & moderation)
This means out at that event you’re promoting with you’ll be able to not only shoot the video you need with your mobile device but probably edit it while you’re in line waiting somewhere, even throw some music underneath and publish it to your channel. Allowing you take take advantage of the hype of the event. We’re publishers at Delton Childs Media so we’re obviously excited about it but anyone with a brand should be too because youtube is arguably the second largest search engine there is, an invaluable tool to spreading the ideas you’re passionate about.
